a really cracked physics guy who i met in my first year of college, when i was still at msu
- he’s also pretty busy, and isn’t very good at [[ remote-friendship|remotely maintaining a friendship ]]
- when i was still at umich, which is only an hour’s drive from msu, we visited each other a few times a year and went to concerts and stuff
- he’s a fan of classical music, and his korean gf1 used to be colleagues with yunchan lim
- he’s christian, and we’ve had a few deep conversations about god that i can’t recall
- i admire him for being one of the few friends who seem to have such a clear path figured out for themselves. though to be fair, he’s kind of got it easy2
- we both love feynman

yes, lauren is also cracked at the piano, but now she does physics ↩

his dad works(ed?) at los alamos (national laboratory in new mexico where the manhattan project took place), and he’s been involved with research in nuclear physics since high school. sociology, he got good capital, but his personality is also a very good fit for conducting research (which may be habitus). overall he’s just very suited for academic and is very happy to be there, which i can’t relate to ↩
