freedom?
the first time we talked about freedom must have been in 澜园, one floor above where we would later take calypso and her friend for dinner

i came across a blog from vincent huang and it occurred to me that there is a dichotomy of external freedoms and internal freedoms. you probably don’t want/can’t have complete external freedom, but internal freedom seems like a thing worth considering, separately.
sociology has been grappling with this question: what is the fault line between freedom and anomie?
many queer and gender studies focus on “disenfranchisement”–a lack of external freedom. (the book calls this ‘negative liberty’)
to me an obsession with freedom (libertarianism) faces the same risks as unrestrained capitalism
